Advisory Council



Deserine A. Fernandes is an adjunct professor, teaching in Yale University’s English Language Institute, Quinnipiac University’s  First Year Writing Program, and Southern Connecticut State University’s Composition program, respectively.  She holds a Master of Fine Art’s in Creative Writing and a Master’s of Business Administration, specializing in Health Services. Deserine is the past bylaws committee chair for The American Society of Multicultural Health and Transplant Professionals (ASMHTP) and the former third chair, as an organ and tissue recovery advocate, for the Critical Care Multi-Disciplinary committee at Grady Memorial Hospital.

She is an accomplished poet and photographer, whose passion is educating marginalized populations, helping them to develop powerful voices and to determine those beneficial actions that will lead to positive change within society.



 Mary C. Mattke, Private Wealth Advisor and Retirement Specialist, has served a diverse clientele of business owners, physicians, non-profits/foundations, public corporations, widows and families for over 25 years, guiding them through transitions such as leadership, ownership, structure and benefits changes, etc.  Actively involved in a variety of Boards and organizations over the years, including the American Red Cross of Greater Hartford Board, the Eastern Connecticut State University Foundation Board, the Women’s Federation for World Peace of CT Advisory Board and more, Mary has chaired many committees, including successful fundraising and development efforts that have greatly exceeded their goals.   

She has assisted in global initiatives that have led to positive changes in the lives of the disadvantaged as a relationship builder for world peace with organizations such as The World Affairs Council of CT, the Global Women’s Issues Forum, reSET Social Enterprise Trust, the Women’s Federation for World Peace USA, the United Nations Association of CT, and others.  As an invited guest at International Peace conferences held in South and North Korea in 2007 and in Israel in 2008, she met with high level political, civic and religious Israeli and Palestinian leaders.  Her hosting of The Gathering since 2002 and co-founding a Women’s Retreat entitled “Learning to Put Your T-I-E On:  Transformation, Inspiration & Empowerment”™ exemplify her passion for personal growth in the world, relationship building beyond boundaries, and directing people to needed resources that move them towards their goals and life’s purpose.  Mary has been named an Ambassador for Peace, was awarded as one of Connecticut’s Best Mothers in May 2007, and became a certified dream coach in 2008.  Additionally, she has corporate experience as an officer at Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Company as well as at LIMRA (the Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association).   


Dawn A. Dalrymple serves as the Executive Director of The Lakewood-Trumbull YMCA, a branch of the Central Connecticut Coast Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA). Dawn has over 15 years of YMCA experience in operations assessment, training, supervision, strategic planning, board development, international initiatives, and fund development. During her YMCA tenure, she has led efforts in raising over $1 million to support children and families in need throughout her service areas. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and Health Sciences from Mount Vernon Nazarene College in Ohio.

Dawn is very much involved in the community, as well as other non-profit agencies. She is the past president of The Trumbull Rotary Club, and sits on the First Selectman’s Prevention Council, Bridgeport Hospital Advisory Committee, Trumbull Relay for Life Committee, Trumbull Youth Commission, and The Trumbull Youth Drug Awareness and Prevention Council. She is a member of the Association of Fund Development Professionals, North American YMCA Development Organization, Trumbull Chamber, and Trumbull Business Education Initiative. In addition, she is a member of Women’s Federation for World Peace where she became an Ambassador for Peace.

Dawn is passionate about helping to strengthen the foundations of community by bringing people together from all walks of life. This, she believes, is demonstrated through nurturing the potential of children, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility to ensure that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow, and thrive.





RoZanne Ho
Ro-Zanne Ho had her first international experience when leaving her home in Malaysia to study abroad at the age of 12. From there she went on to live in Singapore for six years, then relocated to the United States for advanced education and to launch her career, and have since visited more than 25 countries in her passion for travel.

Ro-Zanne has a Master in Business Administration and Masters in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh. At the office, that passion translates to a love of meeting diverse people, learning about their challenges and connecting their business needs to solutions. Ro-Zanne finds value and fulfillment in empowering clients to maximize their potential, which directly impacts business productivity and bottom line. It has proven to be a successful strategy as a performance consultant and trainer at Dale Carnegie Training. 

Through living abroad, Ro-Zanne acquired exceptional intercultural communication skills, which have helped her to provide outstanding service and solution modules based on specific client needs to enhance employee performance. It is her goal to add value and contribute her passions and expertise to empower others to achieve their potential.
